CARYL, Elmer LeRoy – of Davison, age 84, passed away November 25, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. A Funeral Service followed by Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post #267 will be held at 1 PM Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Greg Rowan officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 12-3 and 5-8 PM Wednesday and 12 PM until time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post # 267, Judson Baptist Church or Williams Syndrome Association, 570 Kirts Blvd., Ste. 223, Troy, MI 48084.
Elmer was born in Davison, MI on January 12, 1934, son of the late Jesse and Lillian (Harrison) Caryl. He married Carol Rankin on July 22, 1956. Elmer was a member for over 50 years with the American Legion Post #267, serving on the Honor Guard for many years. He was a member of the Davison Fire Department for 14 years and Judson Baptist Church. Elmer worked at GM as a truck driver, retiring in 1999.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; children, Kathryn (Robert) Wilhite, Michael (Joyce Davis) Caryl, Russell Caryl and daughter-in-law, Kris; grandchildren, Nicole Stack, Tammy (Rob) Young, Rebecca Wilhite, Karinda (Nick) Hancock, Jesse Caryl and Travis Caryl; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, DeAn (Robert) McDaniel and brother-in-law, Harold Kauffman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hannah Kauffman.
