CURRAN, Gerald B. "Red" - Age 85, of Flint Township, formerly of Flushing, died October 1, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, October 10 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Services will follow at 1:30 PM Thursday at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to McLaren Hospice.
Gerald was born February 2, 1928 in Flint the son of Herman and Beatrice (Smith) Curran. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He married Shirley May Cribbs and she preceded him in death October 6, 2012. He worked in Sales for Coca Cola for 32 years retiring in 1990. He was the first "Little Brother" of Flint and continued with the program to become a "Big Brother". He was a member of the Flushing Moose Lodge. He was an artist working in oil painting.
Surviving are: five children, Richard (Christine) Curran of Traverse City, Kathryn (Robert) Wills of Flushing, Denise (Hamid) Elmi of Traverse City, Shelly (William) Suttles of Gilroy, CA, David (Amy) Curran of Fenton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Frank Moyer, Robert Curran, and William Curran.
