CANADA, Kenneth James – of Burton, age 78, died on Monday, November 7th surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and his new wife. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday and 10 AM until time of service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Weiss Child Advocacy Center, 515 East Street, Flint, Michigan 48503 weissadvocacycenter.org.
Kenneth James Canada was born on August 10, 1938 in Flint, Michigan. The son of Roland (Bluie) Canada and Hattie Mae (Priest) Canada, Ken spent his childhood fishing, playing baseball and hanging out with his life-long friends. He met the love of his life, Carlene Jane (Smith) Canada at the age of 13. He entered the Army after high school and married Carlene while home on leave on December 27, 1957.
Ken worked as a paperboy, a milkman, and a line worker at AC. He owned Crystal Lake Resort, a Bait Shop, and the Cactus Patch clothing and shoe store. He worked as a carpet layer, a furniture salesman, a carpet cleaner,and owned ServiceMaster of Burton.
He was a man with an outstanding work ethic, a love of laughter, a person with deep and enduring friendships and an unparalleled love for his wife and daughters. He has lived in several locations in Flint, Beulah and Burton, Michigan. He loved vacationing in Florida and traveling anywhere warm or full of history.
Ken cared tirelessly for his wife, Carlene when she was stricken with Alzheimer's. He spent day and night by her side enduring years of physical and emotional pain and never once complained. After 53 years of marriage, he lost Carlene to the disease.
Ken met Debbie Woods and their friendship grew into a lasting relationship. They spent 5 happy years together and were married just a few weeks ago on October 22, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, brother Harold (Sike) Canada (Shirley), and his children Kendra and husband David Jacobs, Janna and husband Ron McCann, Lisa Canada and husband David Radtke and his grandkids Erica (Chuck), Jessica, Nicolas (Erika), Nathan (Amanda), Brendan and Brady and great-grandchildren Emersyn, Greyson, Huck, Julian and Oliver. On Debbie's side, he is survived by daughter-in-law Tracy (Richard) Derry and son-in-law Andy Woods and grandchildren Johnathon, Kennedy, Kiersten, Gannon, Hailey, Dominic and Allison.
