It is with great sadness that the family of Jane Anne Valley of Flint announces her peaceful passing on April 30th 2018 at the age of 92. Jane’s entire family are so proud of this wonderful woman and the exemplary life she lead as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister and daughter. Jane will be fondly remember by her large and growing family. Seven children and their spouses blessed Jane with 21 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren…. (many more to come). Jane’s children are Cheryl (Dick) Rykwalder, David (Rita) Valley, Tom (Bonnie) Valley, Paul (Susan) Valley, Rick (Lanie) Valley, Jaynie (Tom) Davis, and Matthew (Sue) Valley. Jane was predeceased by her son David, her sisters Laverne and Shirley, and two husbands Richard and Harold. Jane was born to David and Frieda Matthews in Pennsylvania, but she spent most of her life in and around Flint. She and Richard created the R. L.Valley Insurance Agency, from where she eventually retired. Jane spent a great deal of time in school bleachers, folding chairs, and auditorium seats watching kids and grandkids in sports, school plays and concerts, and graduations. Jane’s other hobby was playing Scrabble, a game she rarely lost - even though she always drew “horrible” letters. There will be a viewing at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI from 4-8 pm on Thursday, May 3rd. The funeral will take place on Friday the 4th at 11 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint, MI. Jane will be resting next to her husband of 32 years and father of their 7 children, Richard Lee Valley at the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The Valley Children wish to recognize the amazing and loving staff at the Landings of Genesee Valley Senior Living Center. We cannot put our appreciation into words for how well Jane was treated by the entire staff at the Landings.
