Dennis was born in Flint, MI on July 15, 1944, son of the late Arthur and Bessie
(Maddox) Schott. He was raised in Otter Lake, Michigan where as a young boy he developed a lifelong love of baseball. Dennis played and coached baseball and softball throughout his life and was a dedicated and passionate Detroit Tigers fan, passing on his love and knowledge of the game to his children and grandchildren. He retired from General Motors “Chevy in the hole” after 34 years of service. Dennis was a proud member of Union Local 659 and was also a member of the Davison Eagles F.O.E. #3589 for many years. His friends and family knew him as a stubborn but incredibly loving and compassionate man. Dennis embraced the title of the family jokester and could always be counted on for bringing hysterical laughter through his wonderful stories and goofball spirit. He loved to make people laugh and enjoyed reminiscing and sharing the stories of his life with his children and grandchildren. Dennis was a very proud and loved grandpa who enjoyed playing games, watching movies (especially Westerns and science fiction) and teaching his grandchildren everything he knew about sports and sportsmanship. His children and grandchildren will always cherish the fun times and great conversations they had with him.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Richard) Maiz, Tricia Schott-House and Dawn Jones; grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren and Andrew Maiz, Kathryn and Carter House; former wife and friend, Beverly Kittle; son-in-law, Darrell House; sister, Virginia Roth; 2 brothers, Arthur (Sharon) Schott, Jr. and Randall Schott; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Ray Schott, Jr. and sister, Judith Bennett. He will be forever missed by all that loved him.
