of Flushing, MI, age 95 1⁄2, passed away peacefully at Maple Woods Manor in Clio, Michigan on April 18, 2020.

The youngest of eight, Wilma was born on October 9, 1924 to Louis T. Jamison and Daisy G. (Holmes) Jamison in Paragould, Arkansas. She relocated with her family to Flint, Michigan in the early 1940s. On the summer afternoon of August 10, 1946, Wilma united with Raymond E. Smith in marriage and would remain married for 49 years until Raymond’s passing in 1995. Wilma worked alongside her husband in his business, Ray Smith and Son Excavating, for many years as a bookkeeper until his retirement. After his retirement, Wilma and Raymond moved to Kissimmee, Florida and opened a patio furniture store called Casual Collections. In the mid 1980s, Wilma and Raymond moved back to Michigan. Wilma went on to work for over 25 years at Macy’s, which was formerly known as Hudsons and Marshall Fields, in sales throughout various departments. She retired from Macy’s in her late 80s. After Raymond’s passing, Wilma enjoyed spending her winter months in Englewood, Florida collecting seashells and sharks' teeth, and enjoying the beautiful sunsets on the Gulf. Wilma was a strong believer in her faith and had been a member of the Fenton Road Baptist Church for many decades. She was a devoted wife, mother, granny, great-grandma, great-great grandma who loved to teach her grandkids how to bake chocolate chip cookies, spinach balls, and monkey bread, cross stitch and sewing, and the joys of shopping, listening to gospel and country music, and the importance of Sunday dinners. She believed in giving her grandkids chocolate cake for breakfast and making them feel they were the center of her universe. She was their p comfort of home and will be deeply missed.

Wilma is survived by her granddaughters, Becky and husband Anthony Wells, Lisa and husband Chris Moore, Ciara and husband Steve Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Bryce, Avery, Deven, Caden, Brooklyn, Ashtyn, CJ, and Owen; great-great granddaughter, Carys; and many special extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Smith and her son Dennis R. Smith.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the phenomenal staff of Maple Woods Manor for their dedication, love, and compassion they provided our grandma during this difficult time in the world. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Wilma’s honor.
