Linda was born on August 21, 1938, in Flint, Michigan, to Kenneth and Mary Lou (Sigler) Lewis. She graduated from Central High School in 1956 and married Eugene Peetz in 1964. Together, they raised two daughters, Sally and Ruth Ann.
Linda was an active member and held many offices for Grand Blanc #507 Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the Ladies Oriental Shrine. For many years she supported and led the girls of Grand Blanc Job Daughters Bethel #30. Her interest in music led her to membership in the Michigan Bluegrass Music Association and St. Cecilia Society of Flint.
Although living in Grand Blanc for many years, Linda and Eugene spent much of their summers in Millersburg, Michigan where she loved watching the deer, porcupines, and racoons eat from the corn pile in their back yard. She loved the quietness of the forest and so appreciated the beauty of the great outdoors. She enjoyed camping, building campfires and roasting marshmallows. She enjoyed fishing in the surrounding lakes and boating in their 30’ Sea Ray which was berthed at the Rogers City Marina. There they made many friends and became an integral part of the boating community.
As snowbirds, Linda and Eugene spent the winter months in Zephyrhills, Florida where they were active members of the Casa del Sol and Winters Park communities. In fact, Linda and Eugene were honored as the Winters Park King & Queen in 2010. You could often find both of them singing and playing instruments for the impromptu bluegrass gatherings in the city park on Sunday afternoons and participating in numerous bluegrass concerts around the many parks and communities. She especially loved attending the community gospel sings and singing songs to the Lord.
Linda will be remembered for her concern and compassion for others, for the joy that permeated her soul, for reaching out to others through her contagious smile, for making friends with anyone she met and for always having a song in her heart. She was a bright light wherever she went. Linda started a saying several years ago that became special to her family. Every time we said goodbye for any reason, it was always followed with a “love you.” And every time, she would respond with “love you more.”
