Jajey, Laverna June “Verna” of Flushing, age 81, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at her home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial Mass will be held to honor her life 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at St. Robert Catholic Church, Flushing. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. The family will receive friends and family at the church from 12 p.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Verna was born in Flint, Michigan, on June 5, 1934, the daughter of William and Ora Lee (Thurman) Unsel. She married Joseph Jajey in Flushing, Michigan, on October 15, 1965. Verna was a business owner in the Flint area until her retirement in 1999. She was a past member of the Quota Club International. Verna loved collecting antiques. Her home was furnished with antiques from the silverware to the light fixtures. Verna enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. She hosted beautiful dinner parties that always culminated with a fabulous fancy desert. Verna's home reflected her creative style and grace. She also loved traveling and exploring new places with her husband, Joe. They traveled extensively across America in their motor home that they shared for 18 years.
Verna is survived by her husband, Joe; children, Sharon, Robin, Lori; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Verna will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
