SZUCH, Irene – of Flint, age 80, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, September 5, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 212 Center Rd. Otisville. Rev. Fr. Ernest Martello, o.s.c., celebrant. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM-2 PM and 4-8 PM Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. Davison. On Thursday, visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Irene was born in Akron, MI on August 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Steve and Ester (Olah) Esterhai. She married Bert E. Szuch on December 7, 1952 and he preceded her in death. Irene was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and was a wonderful water color artist, having her work displayed at the Flint Institute of Arts. Irene retired from the Administrative Office of Pupil Personnel of Flint Community Schools.
Irene is survived by sister, Margaret (Ernie) Szuch; special nieces, Patricia (Ernest) Ahlstrom, Betty (Jerry) Krempa; nephews, Ernie (Annie) Szuch and Bob Zielinski; several other nieces and nephews; special friends, Kim Shock and Matt Patterson; her beloved cat, Sunshine. She is preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
