DUTKO, William Joseph, 73, of Hadley, Michigan, died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He was born July 16, 1941 in Stuttgart, Germany, the son of late Alex and Annie Dutko. William (Bill) was the beloved husband of Betty Jane Dutko (Van De Veere), married 1961 at St. Clement Church in Centerline, Michigan. He is survived by his sister, Heidi (Larry) Popour of Phoenix, Arizona, and the dear father of Vincent (Patti) Dutko of Grand Blanc and daughter, Betty-Jane Dutko of Hadley. The devoted grandfather of 4 grandchildren, Amy Lynn Dutko, Jennifer Lee Dutko, Zachary Traies Melosh and McKenzie Jane Melosh. Bill worked several years in many shops as a tool designer supporting the automotive industry before hiring into GM’s Delphi Division, retiring as a Buyer in 1998. Bill proudly served Hadley Township for 36 years working both the Zoning Board and Planning Commission including 18 years as Hadley Township Supervisor. Bill’s “Opa’s Tree Farm” donated and planted the stately Blue Spruce that stands in front of the Hadley Town Hall and is lit each Christmas by the first graders. Bill also was a dedicated (former) member of the Hadley Lions Club. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, boating, hunting, fishing and skiing with his family and friends. Bill bravely battled cancer for the last 9 months of his life. It was his wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital for cancer (https://shop.stjude.org/GiftCatalog/donation.do?cID=14262&pID=24671&frequency_selected=1&sc_icid=dropdown1). Please join us in a celebration of Bill’s life at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 7296 South Gale Road, Goodrich, Michigan 48438, on Thursday, April 23, 2015. Visitation at 10:00am, fellowship and mass at 11:00am, and luncheon to follow.
