LARSON, Alvin “Al” – of Davison, age 85, passed away November 12, 2015 at his residence. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 11 AM Monday, November 16, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Huntington ’s Disease Society of America or McLaren Hospice.
Al was born in Flint, MI on June 30, 1930, son of the late Frank and Elsie (Gingery) Larson. He married Rosalyn Urban on April 24, 1954. Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Purdy, where he earned Good Conduct and Korean National Defense Service Medals. He started working at Fischer Body, then selling insurance for New York Life and then worked at Royalite. In 1973, he bought in to Marien ACE Hardware, where it later became Larson’s ACE Hardware in downtown Davison. Al worked side by side with his wife, Rosalyn; son, David and daughter-in-law, Marti. He loved to hunt, fish and golf. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Al is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosalyn; son, David (Marti); grandchildren, Melissa Steffler and Melanie (Brian) Steckel; great-grandchildren, Michael, George, Evelyn, Laura, Susan, Cecilia, Grey and Madison; sisters, Betty Pittenger and Sharon Bauder. He was preceded in death by daughter, Paula; siblings, Doris Lacey, Carol Kimmel and Richard Larson.
