Lillian Joyce Keipinger, 88, of Bad Axe, formerly of Montrose, died early Sunday morning, December 8, 2013 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born October 17, 1925 in Pontiac, daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Thompson) Hess and attended Pontiac schools. On January 10, 1943 she was married to John Keipinger in Pontiac. He predeceased her in June of 1988. Mrs. Keipinger was a faithful member of the Seventh-Day Church organization and was a homemaker most of her life. Her favorite hobbies included crocheting and needlework.
Surviving are her three sons and four daughters; Harry Keipinger and his wife Marlene of Millington; Michael Keipinger and friend Kevin Lane of Montrose; LeRoy Keipinger and his wife Judy of Walker; Louanne Smith and Lena Keipinger and her friend John, all of Paragould AR; Lucille Keipinger of Unionville and Eleanor Richmond and her husband John of Filion; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was predeceased her son, Willard Keipinger August 8, 1945, two brothers, Kenneth and Howard Hess, one sister, Norma Schett and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese. Rev Malcom Mills of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Unionville will officiate with committal services to follow in the Green Ridge Cemetery in Bay City. Mrs. Keipinger’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the donor’s favorite charity.
