Joseph Bybee, age 91, of Mayville, MI formerly of Lapeer, MI passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1PM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at New Life in Christ Lutheran Church North Branch, MI with Deacon Joe Schierlinger officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the church by the Mayville American Legion Post #181, VFW Post 10884 and Lapeer American Legion Post #4139.
The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until time of the service.
Internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbiaville, MI at a later date.
Memorial Contributions may be made to New Life in Christ Lutheran Church.
Joseph was born April 29, 1925 in Yale, MI son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Secord) Bybee. He attended Columbiaville Schools and served our country in the United States Navy as Mate Third Class aboard the Nautilus Submarine during WWII. Joseph married Ellen Kreis on December 31, 1943 in Pensacola, FL and they were married for 70 years. He retired in 1988 as a photographer for the Lapeer County Press. Joseph was a member of New Life in Christ Lutheran Church and Mayville American Legion Post #181. He loved spending time with family and friends, photography, hunting, fishing and years ago playing music in bands.
Joseph is survived by two children, Joell (Dale) Coulter Hascall of Mayville, MI and Daniel (Susan) Bybee of Lapeer, MI; four grandchildren, Joey, Lori, Jerad and Rebecca; eight great grandsons and one brother Donald Morris (Maureen) Bybee of Stonybrook, NY.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen in August of 2015.
