ULSHAFER, Edwin L. - of Davison, formerly of Goodrich, age 89, passed away November 20, 2019 at the Oaks at Woodfield. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, November 25, 2019 at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Rd., Goodrich; Pastor Joel Walther officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 2 – 8 PM Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Memorial Service under the auspices of the Mason Goodrich Lodge #548 will be held at 7 PM on Sunday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Ed was born in Torrance, CA on June 14, 1930, son of the late R. Earl and Gertrude (Withey) Ulshafer. He proudly served with the U.S. Army National Guard from 1948-1954. Ed married his childhood sweetheart, Delores Holtzmann on June 18, 1949. He worked for GMI-Kettering, retiring as General Supervisor of Facility and Engineering in 1980. Ed was a life member of Goodrich Lodge #548 F&AM and was the Pastmaster of Ortonville Lodge #339 F&AM in 1958. He was an active Goodrich band parent and sponsored many t-ball teams, called “Gramp’s Girls”. Ed taught heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning for 7 years at Mott Community College and owned his own refrigeration business. He was a member of the Elf Khuraeh Shriner’s Lodge in Saginaw, MI and Sahib Shrine Band in Sarasota, FL. Ed loved playing cards, especially poker. He and Delores traveled all over the country in their RV since 1958.

Ed is survived by his wife, Delores Ulshafer; children, Debera (Earl) LaBean and Edwin (Judy) Ulshafer II; grandchildren, Michael Stewart and Sandi Stewart, Edwin (Jackie) and Ryan (Jessyca) Ulshafer; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Emerson, Anderson and their mother, Leslie Stewart, Ava, Landon, Alivia and Liam Ulshafer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Willis Pratt; granddaughter, Deidre Ulshafer; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Ulshafer and sister, Pat Shirkey. The family would like to thank the Oaks of Woodfield and Dr. Larry Braver for the loving care they provided to Ed and his family for the past 22 months.
