Oscar "Butch" Robinson passed peacefully in his sleep while at home with his adoring wife, Sharon, at his side on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Butch was born on July 28, 1945 in Flint where he attended Bendle High School. He was a proud Marine and served a tour of duty in Vietnam in reconnaissance, obtaining the rank of sergeant (E-5). Butch was employed at Fisher Body, where he was elected as shop committeeman for the UAW Local 581. After Fisher Body closed, he worked at Buick City where he was elected as a shop committeeman for the UAW Local 599. He retired from Buick and moved to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee where he enjoyed warmer weather and golf. Butch also enjoyed cooking, baking, cheering for Michigan State and the Detroit Lions, as well as traveling the country…making yearly trips back to Michigan to visit the grandchildren. Butch is lovingly survived by his ever-patient wife, Sharon; his three daughters, Debbie (Matt) Adams, Laurie (Dave) Miller, & Karie (Dave) Bruce; a step-son, Jason (Stephanie) Ostrander; a step-daughter, Jennifer (Pat) Stambaugh; eleven beloved grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Marjorie) Robinson; three sisters, Linda (David) Root, Georgia (Jim) Alumbaugh, and Janet (Lee) Kline; and many nieces and nephews. He has two sisters preceding him in death, Martha Blakemore & Vicki Kirby. Memories of his life will be shared on Wednesday, January 28 at Swartz Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m.; he will be gallantly laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to consider honoring his memory and service to our country and please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project.
