Joan Rider, 78, of Lapeer (formerly of Flint), died Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
Joan was born January 4, 1934 in Owosso. She graduated from Owosso High School, class of 1952. Joan married Ronald J. Rider on October 2, 1954 in Owosso, MI. She worked many years at Troy Cleaners in Lapeer but her life-long career was as a loving mother and homemaker. Joan loved snowmobiling and really liked the casino.
Joan is survived by her children: Patrick (Joan) Rider of Flushing, Rick (Diana) Rider of Flint, Dan (Robin) Roth-Roder of Wolverine and Judy (Donald) Vohwinkle of Flushing; eight grandsons; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Rider in June of this year; her mother, Emyss Kitchen; her father, Phillip Merrill; her brothers: Bob, Jack & Phil Merrill; her sisters: Mary Heller and June Gutshall; and her step-father, William Kitchen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
Visitation will be held 2-4/6-8pm Thursday December 6, 2012. Joan’s funeral service
will be 2:00pm Friday December 7, 2012 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Burial will be in the Attica Township Cemetery, Attica, MI.
