RUFF, Patrick J. – of Clio, age 84, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Regency at Waterford Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, May 17, 2013 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Fr. William Wegher officiating. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 5PM until 8PM. He will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:30AM until time of services at 10:30AM. Burial will be 10AM Monday, May 20, 2013 in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Regency at Waterford Nursing Home.
Patrick was born November 14, 1928 in Flint, MI to the late Alexander and Marie (Coggins) Ruff. He married Gail Donaldson on April 14, 1956, they enjoyed many happy years together. Patrick was a US Navy Veteran with service in the Korean War also a member of the Sea Bee's. He was owner and operator of Carefree Aluminum for 40 years, retiring in 2000. Patrick was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church. The Genesee Sportsman's Club and the VFW in Lake City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tree farming and building many different things.
Surviving are: wife, Gail; children, David (Anne) Ruff of Dallas, TX, Leslie (Thomas) Shafto of Oxford, Maryann McDowell of Clio; 8 grandchildren; Tony (Amy) McDowell, Meagan Shafto, Ted Ruff, Tim Shafto, Erin McDowell, Alex McDowell, Gabby McDowell, Kathleen McDowell; brother, Donald (Anne) Ruff; sister, Margaret Cook; many nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by: son, Timothy Michael Ruff. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Regency at Waterford Nursing Home who became like family.
