McGUIRE, Raymond L. - of Clio, age 85, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at McLaren of Flint. Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Ray will be held at 10:30AM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Robert McGraw officiating. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Tuesday from 1-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30AM until time of mass at 10:30 AM. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Clio Athletic Boosters-Boys Basketball.
Ray was born August 7, 1929 in Flint to the late Charles an d Halley (Miller) McGuire. He was a Clio resident his entire life. He married Anne Brothers on July 5, 1952 in Flint. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2009. Ray retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a boiler operator. He was a charter member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church and was active in many church events. He was a charter member and first Vice President of the Clio Jaycee's. Ray was a very active member of the Northwest Flint and Clio Bowling Leagues. Ray enjoyed doing stats for the Clio Boys Basketball, was an avid sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are: children: Benjamin (Sharon) McGuire of Davison, Patrick (Terese) McGuire of Clio and Christopher (Krista) McGuire of Clio; 7 grandchildren: Traci (Craig) Kotowicz, Jeff, Kenny, Adam (Jamie), Megan, Max and Halle; several nieces and nephews. Ray was also preceded in death by: daughter, Julie McGuire; son, Joseph McGuire; and sister, Colleen Noel.
