ATHERTON, Dale Eugene - Age 86, of Gaines, passed away March 24, 2025 in Port Charlotte, FL. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions in Dale's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or University of Michigan-Medicine. Dale was born November 3, 1938 in Gaines, the son of the late Floyd Jerome and Ruth M. (Bronson) Atherton and was a 1957 graduate of Gaines High School. He married Kathryn A. Michaels on December 3, 1968 in Saginaw. Dale retired from General Motors in 2000 with over 25 years of service. He enjoyed farming, spending time at the lake and traveling. Dale is survived by his wife, Kathryn "Kay" Atherton; son, Michael Atherton; daughters, Lori (Jeff) Robinson and Wendy (Andy) Wiltse; grandchildren, Amy, Mark, Eric, Amanda, Anthony and Sage; great-grandchildren, Logan, Willow, Austin, Jason, Maddox and Julianna; brother, Gary (Linda) Atherton; brother-in-law, Richard (Franie) Michaels. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy; grandson, Kevin; four brothers and four sisters; daughter-in-law, Debbie. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
