Rayburn Thomas Minton, 86, of North Branch, died Wednesday November 9, 2016 surrounded by family. He was born February 6, 1930 in Royalton, IL to parents Charley and Edith (Thomas) Minton. Rayburn married Betty J. Grizzell on March 15, 1946 in Benton, IL.
Mr. Minton retired from General Motors after many years, finishing his career as a shop foreman. He was a member and supporter of his UAW Local #326. Rayburn also was a farmer his whole life, not necessarily to make money. In his day, he loved deer hunting, fishing, killing his & anybody's varmints and snowmobiling. Mr. Minton was also a fan of football and baseball. He loved family events and they will miss him.
Mr. Minton is survived by his children: Ray (Linda) Minton of Owensboro, KY; Jim (Brenda Jean) Minton of Winter Haven, FL; Denise Minton of Otter Lake; Carl (Geanine) Minton of North Branch; Terry (Lonny) Beegle of North Branch, x15 grandchildren, x21 great-grandchildren and x2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Betty (10/9/2016), granddaughter: Amber Minton (2/13/16), two sisters, three brothers as well as his parents.
Rayburn's visitation will be 2:00-6:00pm Sunday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. His funeral will be 2:00pm Monday November 14, 2016 at Muirs, officiated by Pastor Rick Yarbrough. Cremation will follow services and he will eventually be buried in Deerfield Township Cemetery, Fostoria.
