Charles J. Zubek of Swartz Creek, age 72, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at his home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint. Fr. Robert Copeland will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Robert Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Noon-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of the Mass Thursday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic School or St. Robert Catholic School.
Chuck was born December 21, 1940, in Flint, MI, the son of Joseph and Thresa (Burns) Zubek. He married Gloria L. (Hennessy) Kordyzon in Flushing on May 21, 1987.
Chuck graduated from Dye High School in 1959. He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served from 1961-1965. He had worked at Fisher Body and Chevrolet Flint Assembly, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 598. Chuck was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Swartz Creek V.F.W. Post. He enjoyed camping, boating, discussing politics, and watching Fox News. Most of all, Chuck enjoyed hunting with his son, Kristopher, and friend, Lloyd, in the U.P. at Camp This Is It, where he was treated like family by the Pearman families, Tom, Kevin and Keith. He especially cherished the times spent playing with his grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by: his wife of almost 26 years, Gloria; sons, Steven Zubek and fiancée Carrie Riker of Mt. Morris, Brian (Donna) Zubek of CO, Mark (Cathy) Hutchinson of Mt. Morris, Kristopher (Amy) Kordyzon of Flushing; daughter, Kathryn (Monk) Daniel of Flushing; grandchildren, Stephanie, Krista, Lauren, Brianna, Maxdon and Landon Zubek, Eric Hutchinson, Micah and Kaleb Daniel, and Aidan Kordyzon; sisters, Malinda Dailey of Linden, Mary (Dave) Metropoulos of San Diego; sisters-in-law, Colleen Stringer of Goodrich, Sharon Conquest of Pittsburgh, PA; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; best friends, Rex Grojean, Lloyd Rowell, Tom Livingston, Dale Demorest, and Tom, Kevin and Keith Pearman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; and granddaughter, Madison. |
