SHAFT, Patricia Ann - Of Burton, age 83, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 2051 West Maple Avenue, Flint,
Pastor Paul Boerger officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Visitation 6-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the service.
Patricia was born in Flint on March 5, 1934, to Priscilla and Glenn Shaft. She was born with Cerebral Palsy and at the age of 5 learned to walk and talk. Patricia went to a “Special Handicap Room” at Walker School until she was 18 years of age, at which time she was too old to attend any longer. Thanks to the excellent care and attention of her parents, Patricia was able to do basic household chores, which were her pride, she was able to feed the birds, ride an exercycle and help around the house. As years progressed she became unable to maintain her balance and required a walker to keep her ambulatory.
Patricia was a member of the Grand Blanc Eastern Star, and Priscilla took her to the Southland bowling alley with her for many years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, now known as Lamb of God Lutheran Church. Patricia lived with her mother her entire life, until the death of Priscilla in 2007. She has resided in an Assisted Living Facility, known as Redwood Manor, and was extremely happy there, where the staff are very loving and kind. Patricia felt she had a second family there.
Surviving are sisters, Laurel (Leon) Shaft Fenner and Glenda(Paul) Dianne Dailey;
And many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sister, Yvonne Kennedy.
