Linda Diane Peake (Jurd) -- of Flint Township, went home to be with the Lord On June 26, 2019. A private gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Camp Barakel, 1798 Shear Lake Rd., Fairview, MI 48621 or the Old Newsboys of Flint, 6255 Taylor Dr., Flint MI 48507. Linda was born in Flint, Michigan on December 10, 1946. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Dorothy M. Jurd. On August 5, 1967, she married Ronald J. Peake and raised her two children Jeffrey M. Peake (Julie) and Colleen R. Peake. She has one grandson, Tony James Mastin. She graduated from Durand High School in 1965. She received a Bachelor Degree from M.S.U. and Masters Degree from U of M. She worked at Michigan School for the Deaf for 17 years. She then worked as a social worker for the State of Michigan and for the Veterans Administration until she retired. Linda was a Christian with a deep faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She had an incredible talent for sewing. She made wedding and prom dresses for many family members and friends. Linda also enjoyed making quilts for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Dorothy Jurd, in-laws Francis and Helen Peake, sister in-law Margaret Durkee and brother in-law Ray Peake. She is survived by her husband Ronald her children Jeff Peake (Julie) and Colleen Peake, grandson Tony Mastin, sisters Charlotte Jurd, Yvonne Fry (Jim) and Jill Freeman, in-laws Richard (Dee) Peake, Sue Peake and Walt (Edythe) Peake, cousins Joy Ann and Ron Coleman, the Tom and Carol Stefanski family, and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
