Wright, Mother Janie Age-102 passed away Tuesday October 3, 2017 at her residence. Homegoing celebration will be held at 11am Friday October 13, 2017 from the Historical Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church 502 Leith St. Rev. Daniel Moore officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Mother Wright will lie in state in the Sanctuary of the Historical Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Thursday from 11am until 5pm after which special services will be conducted under the auspices of the O.E.S. Rose Marie Chapter #33. Mother Janie Minerva Wright passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Mother Wright was born on October 7, 1914, the daughter of Thaddeus Travis Sr. and Janie Holmes in Jackson, MS. Mother Wright received her education at Jackson High School in Jackson, MS.
Mother Wright enjoyed cooking, fellowshipping with family and friends but most of all serving God. A lifelong member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Mother Wright faithfully served on the Mother’s Board, Missionary Board, Bolton and James House and Chairperson of Pastor’s Aid Committee for 35 years.
Mother Wright was a member of the Eastern Stars for 60+ years. She has served as W.M in Rose Marie Chapter #33. She served as Secretary and R.M in the Amaranth. She was Secretary and M.A.M of the Herion of Jericho. She was Secretary in the Ladies of Knight. She served as M.W.G.M in the Daughters of Sphinz. She was a member of the Royal Ladies and served as Grand Deputy State of Michigan.
Mother Wright leaves to cherish in her memory, Two daughters, Mrs. Veronica Nickens of Flint and Mrs. Shelia Sanders of Ladd, AR. Twenty-One Grandchildren. Forty-five great-grandchildren. 10 Great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, God-children and friends
Mother Wright was preceded in death by her parents. Husband Leslie Wright Sr. Sons: Peter Perrin, Melton Wright and Leslie Wright Jr. Daughter, Barbara Perrin. Grandsons: Rodney Thompson, Peter Perrin III, Tony Prince, and Michael Goldsmith. Granddaughters, Debra Perrin and Patricia Perrin. Great-Great-Great Granddaughter Amyia Thompson and Great-Great-Great Grandson DeAndre Summers. Brother, Thaddeus Travis Jr.
