ISHAM, Charles Lyle “Chuck” - Of Lapeer, age 72, went to Heaven Friday, May 24, 2013 at Stonegate Health Center in Lapeer.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Robert D. Wright from Court Street United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Visitation 1-8pm Monday at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Durand, Wisconsin on March 3, 1941. Chuck moved from Wisconsin to Flint with his family when he was about 10 years old. He graduated from Flint Central, Class of 1959. He married Joyce Duncan on June 13, 1964. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and served overseas. Chuck was employed with GM at Fisher Body and Buick City, retiring in 1999. Chuck and Joyce made many trips to Florida visiting their children and grandchildren. They both greatly enjoyed their home on Hemingway Lake in Lapeer County. They looked forward to each summer and Christmas time for their children and grandchildren to visit. They also hosted several family gatherings. Chuck kept very busy doing the things he loved to do such as: taking “Jake” for walks, gardening, fishing trips to Canada, reading, watching sunsets, spoiling grandkids, watching the Red Wings, Tiger and U of M sports, watching the swans and other wildlife, helping neighbors and friends and many more activities. Chuck was a very skilled woodworker and has made many items for their home and he recently built a storage shed down by the lake which is well known around the lake. Chuck always treated others fairly and was a great friend to many.
Surviving are wife Joyce;
daughter, Shawn (Roberto) Viera;
son, Robert “Bobby” Isham;
grandchildren, Tiago, Giovan, Vinicio, Nina and Eddy;
sisters, Marilyn (Ray) Reaves, Priscilla Dodd;
brother, Stan (Pat) Isham;
and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Isham, step-mom, Catherine Isham
