BICKLE, Christine M. – of Montrose, age 72, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Angel Manor in Clio. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Messiah Lutheran Church – 520 Butler St., in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. A private burial will be held in Montrose Twp. Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Area 13 – Special Olympics Michigan, or Messiah Lutheran Church.
Christine was born February 3, 1952, in Redford, Michigan, to the late William and Gladys (Connolly) Bickle. She graduated from Flint Central High School and later earned her master’s degree from Oakland University. For 38 years, Christine poured her heart and soul into teaching special education at Montrose schools, touching countless lives along the way. Her exceptional teaching abilities not only earned her numerous accolades but also endeared her to generations of students and their families. Beyond the classroom, Christine's dedication knew no bounds. A faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church, she took on the role of overseeing the annual Christmas bazaar for many years, spreading joy and goodwill to all. Her leadership as the Director of Special Olympics in Montrose brought communities together, organizing countless fundraisers to support this meaningful cause. Christine loved crafting - especially sewing, traveling adventures, and time spent with her beloved dogs. A compassionate soul with a heart of gold, Christine was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her unwavering dedication and boundless compassion will forever remain etched in the memories of all those she touched.
Surviving are: Foster sister, Rene Bucala; Foster nieces and nephews: Christina Morey, Jennifer Crosley, Melissa Ricketts, Casey Kelleghan, Jesse Kelleghan, John Oben, Kevin Morey, Valijean LaTour, JT Johnson, and Todd Johnson; Great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; Best friends: Marilyn Hodges, and Becky & Dennis Cook. Christine was also preceded in death by: Stepsister, Linda Bickle; Foster sisters: Penny Roberts, and Laurie Kelleghan.
