SHUMAKER, Janet L. - of Davison, age 78, went to be with the Lord September 13, 2016. A Memorial Service will be held 3:30 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Max L. Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be 11 AM-3:30 PM, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Jan was born in Lapeer on January 7, 1938, daughter of the late William and Marguerite (Running) Warren. She graduated from Lapeer High School with the Class of 1956. Jan married Jim Shumaker on July 28, 1956. He preceded her in death. She loved spending time with her husband and family. She was always excited to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her loyal dog, Mandy. Jan enjoyed music, singing at church; and in her earlier years, singing at the WMPC radio station in Lapeer.
Jan is survived by children, Cathryn L. (Jeff) Tody, James J. (Robbi) Shumaker and Wm. Scott (Patty) Shumaker; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan (Carl) McKee and Jean Hill and her brother, Bob (Bonnie) Warren. In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her other brother, Dick Warren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Regency Nursing Home of Grand Blanc for their care, support and professionalism.
