SPRINGSTEEN, Audrey Marie - Of Flint Township, Michigan, age 96, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Todd Regester officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Flint Seventh Day Adventist Church or McLaren Hospice.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday and 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Audrey was born in Otter Lake, MI on July 19, 1918. She graduated from Fostoria High School, Class of 1937. On January 3, 1938, she married Russell Springsteen. Audrey was a homemaker and her talents were many. She was an artist in many of the hobbies she pursued. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed many beautiful clothes for family members and herself. She was even called a “sewing genius” by a young child who was a friend of the family. She was appreciated for the decorated birthday cakes that she made for all her grandchildren and was willing to take requests for original creations such as “Charlie Brown playing baseball in the rain.” Audrey also enjoyed ceramics, baking, knitting, crocheting, reading and gardening. She was a member of First Flint Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years. Audrey was a very humble person and a very independent person, living on her own and insisting on doing everything for herself until the age of 96. As she neared 97, God saw her road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. And now, the weary hours are passed. The ever patient, and the worn out frame has found sweet rest at last.
Audrey is survived by two sons, Douglas (Linda) of East Lansing and David (Alice) of Durand;
daughter, Diane (David) Martin of Flint;
12 grandchildren, Celeste, Barry, Jennifer, Lisa, Russell, David, John, Denise, Amy, Beth, Becky and Chris;
and 16 great-grandchildren.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Neva June, husband, Russell, brothers, Regnald, Raymond and Donald and sister, Helen.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Sturm, McLaren Hospice, Homestead Health, and the staff at Woodhaven.
