JOHNSON, Gale D. – of Davison, age 79, passed away July 18, 2013 at Genesys Hospice Care Center – Goodrich. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 22, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Don Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-7 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday. A Masonic Memorial Service conducted by the Davison Lodge #236 will be held 6 PM Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or a Children’s Charity of your choice.
Gale was born in Sumner, Missouri on May 5, 1934, son of the late Norlin and Vivian (Milsap) Johnson. He married Norma Jean Skunda on May 2, 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1999. On June 26, 2010 he married Mary Ann (Skellenger) Hill. Gale was an Ironworker for 25 years with Local #25. He worked at AC Spark Plug for 25 years as a Welder, retiring in 1997. Gale was a member of the Davison Masonic Lodge #236, former member of the Elf Khurafeh Shrine where he participated in many parades and functions with the Tin Lizzie Group. Gale was an avid, dedicated Red Wings fan. He loved to tinker on projects, always looking for something to keep him busy. Gale was a kind-hearted and generous person who adored his family and friends. He was a fun-loving guy who was always playing pranks on others.
Gale will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Ann; sons, Greg (Reta), Steven (Dawn) and Douglas (Brenda); daughter, Gayle Groulx; grandchildren, Tara, Conor, Brennen, Ashley, Kristen, Danielle and Gregory; sister, Doris Keeton. He was preceded in death by siblings, Lois, Carolyn, Norma Lee and Gary.
