MATHEWS, David Kenneth – of Davison, age 65, passed away July 25, 2015 at Maple Woods Manor. A Funeral Service will be held 2PM Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Doug Klein officiating. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8PM on Wednesday. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Michigan.
David was born in Flint, MI on June 13, 1950, son of the late Kenneth and Geraldine (Wilson) Mathews. He married Patricia Brown on August 2, 1975 in Davison, MI. They were just shy of celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary together. David enjoyed wind surfing, snow skiing, woodworking and cars. He loved gardening, birdwatching and traveling across the United States. David worked as an Automotive Teacher in Clio Community Schools for 20 years.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia Mathews; children, Amanda Mathews of Chicago, IL, Amy Mathews of Davison, MI; brothers, Ted Mathews of Clinton Township, MI, Terry Mathews (Kathy) of Flushing, MI; cousin, Nancy Branch of Davison, MI. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Country View of Flushing for their compassionate care and Colonial Hills Baptist Church of Mt. Morris for providing spiritual comfort.
