Barbrasue Beattie of Flushing, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 6, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at Rossell Funeral Home.
Barbrasue was born in Portageville, Missouri on January 12, 1944, the daughter of Ira James and Jessie Alice (Goodwin) Ragsdale. A graduate of Northwest High School in House Springs, MO. Barbrasue was later employed by CBS Television in St. Louis, MO and eventually retired from the City of Flint. Barbrasue was a talented writer and devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She could often be found listening to baseball games on her iPhone and gloating about Cardinal victories to her family via text. Barbrasue married Richard J. Beattie in 1974, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by her children, Sheri (Lawrence) Beattie-Smithkey of Flushing, and Jeffrey Beattie of California, as well as her cherished grandchildren Allyson (Eric) Haywood, and Braden (Lexi) Sovis. She also leaves her beloved sister-in-law Cecelia Ragsdale, along with many nieces and nephews. Barbrasue was also the much-loved sister of Patsy, David, and Sonny Ragsdale (all deceased).
