HOLMES, Marilyn J. – Of Grand Blanc, age 84, died Thursday, August 22, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Joe Cottam officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Faith Lutheran Church.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Marilyn was born in Goodrich, Michigan on January 9, 1935, the daughter of Louis and Nora (Rose) Ross.
On May 16, 1953 she married Douglas Holmes and they shared 64 years together.
She was a lifelong Lutheran and member of Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, where she served on the Board of Social Ministry.
Marilyn was a very creative artist, working with pressed flowers, toll painting, sewing and much more.
Marilyn loved her gardening; vegetables and flowers.
Surviving are three children, Gregory, Gary, Scott and wife Becky;
grandson, Garrett and friend Lauren Johnson;
special friends, Tammy Lampinen, Lynette, Bethany and David Branch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug and brother, Darrell Ross.
