JAMES W. MIDDLETON, “JM” OR “MIDDY”, age 77 of Otter Lake, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at McLaren of Flint. His memorial service will be held at 3PM on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home, with Rev. Fr. Bob Bacik officiating. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 1PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lapeer County Animal Shelter or to the LakeVille Athletic Boosters. Jim was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on November 17, 1938 to William and Lucile Middleton. He served in the US Army as a corporal. Jim married Sharon Julius on November 11, 1961 in Morton, Minnesota. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration/Social Studies. In 1968, he and his wife moved to Columbiaville, MI, where he accepted a teaching position at LakeVille Community Schools. Jim retired from LakeVille in 2010, after teaching for 42 years. His continuing education included a Masters Degree from EMU and post graduate accreditation for Principal and Superintendent. He finished with a PhD in Education. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and he enjoyed coaching, writing, watching sports, boating and hanging with his dogs. Jim took pride in being the Deputy Register Clerk, where he was helpful in getting high school kids registered to vote. Surviving is his wife, Sharon; children: Robin (Jeff) Middleton Anderson, Tracy (Steve) Russett, Kristi (Mike) Middleton Reno, and James William “Bear” Middleton, II; grandchildren: Jacob, Larissa, Jacqueline, and Kristopher; brothers: Rolf (Karen) Middleton and Mike (Ann) Middleton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pat. |
