OAKMAN, PAUL E. “BUD” – Of Flint, age 87, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home, surrounded by loving family.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024 at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 West Court Street, Flint, Reverend Jeremy Peters officiating.

Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.

Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County or Genesee County Animal Control.

Visitation 3-7 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Paul will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service.

Paul was born in Irvona, Pennsylvania on September 1, 1937, the son of the late Robert and Viola (McGarvey) Oakman.

Paul married his high school sweetheart, Donna Mary Miller on April 20, 1957, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Paul and Donna then moved to Flint, MI so Paul could attend General Motors Institute and work for General Motors. Paul worked for General Motors on VanSlyke Rd. for over 40 years as a journeyman and a supervisor retiring in 1992, but returned to oversee building an addition to Flint Engine South.
Paul was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church until it closed in 2001. Paul belonged to the Fraternal Organization of Freemasonry, Genesee Lodge #174 & the Bay City Consistory.
Paul was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. Paul designed and hand built their family home where him and Donna raised their four children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. While Paul loved working, his true love was his family. Paul spent most of his life caring for his family. All of Paul’s family vacations were spent with family, driving back to PA to visit family and attend the family reunions and family hunting trips. Sometimes stopping at Cedar Point to ride the roller coasters. Paul will be most remembered by his family enjoying his retirement watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies.
Surviving are wife, Donna Oakman; son, Robert (Dona) Oakman; daughters, Patricia and Susan Oakman; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Oakman, Amanda (Patricia) Oakman, Mike Lee, Kenny Oakman, Sara (Josh) Feasel; great-grandchildren, Keizer Lee, Tyler Cummins, and Weston Feasel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Viola; sister, Saundra; daughter, Cheryl Piotrowski; niece, Sharon Oakman and special great-granddaughter, Gracie Cummins.
