HORTON, Marjorie “Margie” Lee (Adams) – of Davison, MI, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Margie was born in Goodrich, MI on March 5, 1934, daughter of the late Max and Ruth (Hull) Adams. Margie was a proud, life-long resident of Davison, MI. In 1950, Margie went on her first date with David (Dave) Horton, who later proclaimed she was the woman he would marry. In 1952, Margie married Dave, and they had over 70 wonderful years together as husband and wife, until he passed away January 25, 2023.
Margie was a loving and devoted mother to her six children, and they were center of her life. She and Dave attended countless band concerts, choir concerts, sporting events and church activities her children were involved in. Margie and Dave were just as devoted to their six grandchildren. Margie was a member of the Davison United Methodist Church her entire life. She was on various committees at the church, president of the UMW, baked hundreds of her famous “brownie cakes” for funeral dinners and fundraisers, gladly doing whatever was asked of her. Margie found great joy in sending cards to friends and relatives for all occasions. Margie and Dave spent many years together fishing in Lake Michigan in Manistee. They made countless “fishing friends” in the Manistee area, which became their second home. Margie also enjoyed playing cards/games, jigsaw puzzles and spending quality time with family and friends.
Left to cherish memories of Margie are her five children, Dianna (Brian) Johnson, Mark (Kathi) Horton, John Horton, Ellen (Jeff) Melick and Mary Horton-Colling; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many other loving family members, honorary family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Ruth Adams; husband, Dave Horton; sister, Barbara (Adams) Hasian; daughter, Jean Domorsky; granddaughter, Amy Horton; son-in-law, Wes Colling.
A special thank you to all the staff of Stonegate Legacy in Lapeer. They gave such loving care to Margie the entire time she resided there. Margie loved “the kids” who took care of her, and they loved her right back.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 East Third Street, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Rob McPherson officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 3-6 PM Friday, February 28, 2025 and 10-11 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Davison United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Davison United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
