HERMAN, Marion Ruth - Of Flint, age 87, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Marion was born in Mancelona, MI on October 18, 1924, the daughter of George and Mary Brown. She was a resident of Flint since 1929 and graduated from Flint Central High School in January of 1943.
She was employed by Fisher Tank Division during World War II and continued at Fisher Body in Flint until 1953, when she retired to raise a family.
She was Vice President and Secretary of Pre-Fit Door of Flint and Grapids for 34 years.
She married Hubert Herman on November 12, 1948 in Flint.
She was a charter member and past president of The Home Builders Association of Metro Flint Women’s Council and a member of Amica Societas Sorority.
She was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
Surviving are her husband, Hubert;
son, William (Michelle) of Byron Center, MI;
daughters, Mary (Tom) Harwood of Charlotte, North Carolina, Barbara (Bradley) Cotner of Brighton, MI and Elizabeth (William) Herman-Ennen of Ft. Myers, Florida;
9 grandchildren, Jennifer Beck, Andre Francois, Adam Herman, Nicholas Herman, Kate and Erika Cotner, John and Spencer Harwood and Lauren Ennen;
great-grandchildren, Mallory Beck and Charlotte Bowlby.
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, George Brown and William J. Brown; daughter-in-law, Darlene Herman and twin sister, Mary Seymour.
