Calvin Floyd Rossman , 88, of Lapeer, (formerly of Lake Orion) died Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
Calvin was born May 15, 1928 in to J. Lewie and Clara (Mickler) Rossman. Calvin graduated from Lake Orion High School, class of 1946. He served his country proudly during WWII in the US Army. After his service, Calvin attended the University of Detroit for two years. He married Helen Marie Masten on August 1, 1953 in Lake Orion. Along with his wife, Calvin owned and operated Courtesy Cab Co. in Lapeer for 42 years, retiring in 1993. His interests included bingo, gardening, watching baseball and golf – he was 1985 league champion at Rolling Hills. Calvin was a member of American Legion Post #16.
Calvin is survived by his children: John Rossman of Ypsilanti, Kevin (Donna) Rossman of Dryden, Shelley Tollefson of Corunna and Jennifer Rossman of Lapeer; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Lorene (Jerry) Vaverek of Lakeland, FL; brother, Harold (Margie) Rossman of Lake Orion. Calvin is also survived by special friends, Butch & Donna Hoisington. Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Rossman; son, Michael Rossman; grandsons: Eric & Jason Rossman; brothers: Clarence “Bud” Rossman and Alvin Rossman (Calvin’s twin brother), and his parents.
Visitation will be 4-8PM Friday, September 2, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Calvin’s funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
