Czerny, Marie Madeline (Vermette), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of Saginaw, formerly of Flint, age 87, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Cartwright Residence hospice home surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 11110 N. Saginaw St., Mt. Morris. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 E. Main St., Flushing. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Cartwright Residence in Saginaw or Luke M. Powers Catholic High School.
Madeline was born in Flint, Michigan on April 7, 1927, the second of five children to Joseph and Lillian (Simard) Vermette. On October 11, 1958, she married John Paul Czerny at All Saints Catholic Church by Msgr. Anthony Majchrowski. Madeline was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, playing cards, bowling and golfing. She loved cooking and was famous for her dutch apple pie and her cheesecake.
Madeline is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; children, Denise and husband Randy Schmidlin, John and wife Sharon Czerny, Barbara Czerny; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Dan Michelson, Jaclyn and husband Sean O'Connor, Jessica Schmidlin, Jillian Schmidlin, Adam Czerny, Andrea Czerny, Chad Czerny; great-grandson, Liam O'Connor; sister, Cecilia Clark; sister-in-law, Jean Vermette and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Paul and Joseph Vermette; sister, Theresa Beaubien; brothers-in-law, Bill Clark, Richard Beaubien and sister-in-law, Betty Vermette.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Healthcare and Cartwright Residence for their loving, supportive care. |
