HUBER, Joan Magdlean (Etue) passed away peacefully in her home to her Lord and Savior surrounded by the love of her family on August 19, 2014 at the age of 84. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday August 23rd at St. Pius X Catholic Church at G-3139 Hogarth Ave in Flint. Visitation will be at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek on Friday August 22 from 12:00pm until 8:00pm. A Knights of Columbus scripture service followed by a rosary will be at 7:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make contributions may do so to St. Lukes New Life Women’s Center.
Joan was born on August 29, 1929, the daughter of Leo and Jennie Etue. She married Gordon Huber on August 26, 1950 at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Lovingly, they raised 7 children, Randolph (Kathleen) Huber of Flushing, Deborah Weiss of Flushing, Pamela (James) McGuirk of Fenton, Bethany (Whitey) Rettenmund of Flushing, Douglas (Rose) Huber of Swartz Creek, Rebecca (Edward) Bruff of Frankenmuth, and Brian (Elizabeth) Huber of Flushing. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to 24 grandchildren listed in birth order the way Grandma was blessed-- Christina (Chris) Wascha of Birmingham, Michigan, Landon (Meredith) Weiss of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Kelsey (Chris) Wills of Hudsonville, Michigan, Anthony Ragnone of West Hollywood, California, Matthew (Jennie) Huber of Flushing, Michigan, Lindsey (Nicholas) Debernardi of Hudsonville, Michigan, Abbey (Dee) Lamb of Delray Beach, Florida, Lance Huber and fiancé Katie Nguyen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Shannon (Brandon) Tomlinson of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Gina Ragnone of Los Angeles, California, Nathan (Katie) Bruff of Frankenmuth, Michigan, Tyler Weiss of Chicago, Illinois, Karlee Bruff of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Ashley Ragnone of Los Angeles, California, Jimmy McGuirk of Fenton, Michigan, Whitney Rettenmund and fiancé Anthony Stutso of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mariah Bruff of Frankenmuth, Michigan, Olivia Huber of Saginaw, Michigan, Joey McGuirk of Fenton, Michigan, Zachary and Jacob Huber of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Rylee and Karsyn Huber of Flushing, Michigan and Sophia Huber of Swartz Creek, Michigan.
Joan adored her 11 great grandchildren Jace Huber, C.J., Callie and Cole Wascha, Zander and Cami Wills, Lawsyn, Blakely and Finley (due Sept 9) Debernardi, Ryker and Easton Tomlinson.
Joan and Gordie were a team and true soul mates doing everything together for 64 years. She loved her kitchen and cooking everything homemade. She generously shared her creations with everyone who walked in her home. She enjoyed going to the movies, gardening, canning, cooking, and sharing in abundance. She practiced her Catholic faith in anything she faced and everything she did. Joan was a courageous inspirational warrior breast cancer survivor for 14 years. She had an infectious laugh and adorable dimples. Her personality was always “Go with the Flow”! Joan looked forward with great joy to any family celebration. Her greatest love was her family and making special memories together.
Joan is survived by her devoted and loving husband Gordon of 64 years, all of her children and brothers Jack (Jo-Ann) Etue, and Ralph (Mary) Etue. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Jennie Etue, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
