Davidek, Edward J. of Flint, age 90, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
Edward was born in Flint, Michigan on May 9, 1926, the son of Stephen and Anna (Prohaska) Davidek. He married Georgina Crawford on May 8, 1954. Ed served in the Army during World War II and fought in the second wave of the Battle of the Bulge. He partnered with his brothers for over 50 years in a painting contracting business, Davidek Painting and Decorating. Ed was a master painter and decorator. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his eight beloved grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Georgina; children, Greg and wife Margaret Davidek, Annette Davidek and husband Steve Currie, Thomas and wife Eva Davidek, Timothy and wife Bridget Davidek, Edward Davidek, Jr., Kristen Williams; grandchildren, Madeline and Barbara Davidek, Andrew Davidek, Reed, Jacob, and Grace Williams, Owen and Neil Davidek; siblings, Stefan Davidek, Robert and wife Marie Davidek, Geraldine Benedict, John Davidek, Paul and wife Sally Davidek. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Angelina Davidek; and brother-in-law, Robert Benedict.
