David L. Jones Of Owosso, age 67, passed away Friday afternoon, February 26, 2016, at his home. A Time for Sharing Memories for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Dave’s brother-in-law, Rev. Norman Beckwith, will officiate. Cremation will follow the time of sharing. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
David was born in Elberta, Michigan on September 27, 1948, the son of Richard F. “Dick” and Hazel I. Jones. He married Kathleen Beckwith at the Durand First United Methodist Church on November 18, 1972. Dave graduated from Corunna High School in the Class of 1967. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era and worked on aircraft. He was a Painting Contractor and owned his business.
Dave was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. For several years, he taught a Model Airplane Club at the Corunna Middle School. He enjoyed teaching the students to build and fly their own model airplanes. Dave loved to sing and he was the lead singer of the Trinity Road Gospel Quartet, also known as Four Heaven’s Sake. He also enjoyed replicating Michigan historic buildings by recreating them in 1/24th scale wooden models.
Those left to mourn his loss include his wife, Kathy; their two children, Ann Marie Jones of Traverse City, Dale Buddy and Amanda Jones of Henderson; two grandchildren, Samantha and Curtis; a special grandchild, Emily Marshall; his brothers and sisters, Richard and Jeanette Jones of Lake Ann, MI, Merrie and John Hoerger of Waterford, and Theresa and Mark Stenning of Holly; father-in-law, Robert and Marjorie Beckwith of Holt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norman and Christine Beckwith of Oakley, Sarah Pease of Harrison, MI, Roy and Terri Beckwith of Berea, Kentucky, and Roberta and John Smith of Carmi, Illinois; and nieces and nephews.
Those who have passed before him are his parents, Dick and Hazel Jones; a brother, Bill Jones; and his mother-in-law, Ella Beckwith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
