Patricia Ann (Williamson) Sclater-Leiter, age 90 of Grand Blanc, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. She was born on July 22, 1929 to parents Richard Williamson and Merrible McDougal. Born and raised in the City of Flint and lifelong resident of Genesee County, Pat graduated in 1947 from Flint Central High School and continued her education at the Felt & Tarrant Business School. She married the love of her life, Rodney Sclater, in November of 1950. Pat worked and dedicated herself to raising their three children until widowed in May of 1967, when Rodney succumbed to cancer. Pat drew strength from the traits she had acquired over her lifetime – a strong work ethic, integrity and self-confidence and supported her family through her knowledge and talent. She founded Sclater Bookkeeping and Tax Service in 1968 and worked until 2017. In 1969 she was awarded the first woman-owned H&R Block franchise in Michigan. Pat also founded the Slenderalla American Health Spa and built Slenderalla Plaza. She franchised her own business and at one time oversaw eight franchises. Pat volunteered her time as a Youth Leader at Mundy Presbyterian Church and served as Treasurer of the Genesee County Humane Society. She started the Genesee County chapter of Parents Without Partners. She was a member of the American Business Women Association and Zonta Club of Flint since 1967. Her philanthropic contributions are many. Throughout her professional career, Pat was active in local government. One of her proudest roles was helping to bring Ronald Reagan to Flint during the 1980 Presidential campaign. She later married Ben Leiter in 1996. Pat loved to travel, loved her country, especially loved her family and truly cherished her friends. Patricia is survived by: Rodney Craig Sclater, Cheryl (Gary Schenkel) Sclater; step daughter, Judith (Frank) Kasle; grandchildren: Angela (Marcus) Titus, Tobias (Marcela) Padovano, Rodney (Jennifer) Sclater Jr., Jeremy (Carmen) Kinney, Ryan (Kelly) Tagge, Jessica Sclater – Cortez, Eric Tagge; 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Merrible Williamson; husband, Rodney Sclater; daughter, Cynthia Sclater – Tagge; husband, Ben Leiter. Those considering may make a memorial contribution to Voices for Children Advocacy Center or The Flint Diaper Bank. Those who would like to join the family in honoring Patricia's life are invited to line up in procession at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, at 10:30am on Monday, April 27, 2020, to follow a horse drawn hearse to Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, where you are asked to remain in your car for the brief committal ceremony. |
