COOK, Douglas “Cookie” L. – of Flint, MI, age 80, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Bruce Badder and Rev. Vaughn Eller co-officiating. Interment immediately following service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 1-8 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2019 and 10-11 AM Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesee Road Church of God, in Doug’s memory.
Doug was born in Burton, MI on January 5, 1939, son of the late Otis and Helen (Warren) Cook. He married Patty Cowan on June 13, 1958. Doug retired from Teamsters/Ron Ballard Trucking in 1999 after 33 years of service. He was a member of Genesee Road Church of God. Doug worked hard and played harder. He especially enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, street rods and wood working.
Doug is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patty Cook; 2 daughters, Dawn Robertson Taylor and Sharon (David) Camargo; son, Kim (Robyn) Cook; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Helen Cook; son-in-law, Keith A. Taylor; great-grandson, Dylan Mossman; 3 siblings, Delos Cook, Dorothy Snider and Lois McCormick.
