Barbara A. Savoie

Born: 9/18/1932
Died: 10/30/2019
Age: 87
Community: Flint, MI

SAVOIE, Barbara A. - Of Flint, age 87, left this world peacefully in her sleep at home and entered into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2019.

As per Barbara’s wishes, there will be no funeral service and her body is being donated to U of M Hospital for medical research. Barbara was born on September 18, 1932 in Flint, Michigan. She was one of nine children, grew up in the Flushing area and graduated from Flushing High School. She married Alphonse J. Savoie at St. Michaels Church in Flint on July 25, 1953.

Together they had 9 children whom they raised in the Flint area. Through the years, Barbara has enjoyed reading, clogging, baking, gardening and hosting large gatherings for her family. She was known not only to her family, but too many in the community for her one of a kind cinnamon rolls and homemade bread. She was generous to all in sharing her baked goods as her close neighbors Bill and Delores Adkisson can attest to.

Barbara was a loving wife and mother and the biggest advocate for her large family. She always made sure the individuality of each of her nine children was strongly encouraged and supported. Even through a chronic and debilitating illness which spanned over 50 years, her strength and perseverance helped her to push through her illness to keep her family going. Her illness never dulled her curiosity for learning which knew no bounds. These attributes, along with her tenacious spirit and faith in God, are the trademarks that characterize Barbara’s entire life. Toward the end of her illness, she became a strong voice and was extremely passionate about the harmful effects of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) and the radiation from cell towers and cell devices. She had a serious reaction to this type of radiation exposure and suffered numerous health complications because of it. In her latest and final battle with pancreatic cancer she firmly believes it was a direct result of EMF exposure. Barbara continuously delved into research on the topic of EMF’s and was passionate on educating anyone she met on the dangers, including her own doctors.

She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alphonse Savoie in 2006 and her son Gregory Allen Savoie in 2014.

Barbara was a long-time member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
