SANTA, James G. “Jim”– Of Clio, age 87, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at University Hospitals in Ann Arbor.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Charles & Helena Catholic Church, 230 East Vienna Street, Clio, Monsignor Richard J. Groshek officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Santa will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on February 18, 1927 and was a resident of Flint and Clio all of his life.
He proudly served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
On July 30, 1949 Jim married Frances Jadczak in All Saints Catholic Church.
Jim was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
He was a U of M and Tigers fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He loved to cook and was known for his specialty, “Jim’s noodles”. He enjoyed listening to 40’s, 50’s and Hungarian music.
Jim was proud of his Hungarian heritage.
Mr. Santa retired from GM in 1985, after 33 years of service as a Tool Maker.
Surviving are wife of 65 years, Frances;
children, Valerie and husband Mark Zwerk,
Ken and wife Gail Santa,
Jim Santa;
grandchildren, Marc, Garrett, Hannah and Natalie;
sister, Rose and husband Oscar Smigiel;
sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jim and Elaine Fielbrandt; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Grace, Eline, Helen, Katie, Ann, Joe, John and Victor.
