Richard "Rich" Brian Chadwell, age 60, of Byron, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a 4 year battle with cancer. A funeral service will take place 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with burial in Byron Cemetery following. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service Wednesday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to his favorite animal rescue the Golden Gate Rescue, 265 Leaver Street, Durand , MI 48429.
Rich was born on August 11, 1964 in Flint, the son of Dale and Betty (Cook) Chadwell. He graduated from Byron High School, class of 1982. He served in the United States Navy from 1982 to 1985. Rich loved his job working as a heavy equipment operator with Barton Malow and Local #324. It was his passion to operate heavy equipment. Rich and Lindy were united in marriage on October 14, 2017 at their home in Byron. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his children and grandson like no other. Rich was big into wood working and his craftsmanship was always detailed.
He is survived by his wife, Lindy Dohr-Chadwell; daughter, Rachel (William) Fedewa; step-children, Dakota Dohr and Shianne Dohr; mother, Betty Chadwell; grandson, Jace Dylan Fedewa; siblings, Mary Rathbun, John (Teresa) Chadwell, and Patrick (Vicky) Chadwell; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved German Shepherd, Roxy. Rich was preceded in death by his son, Dylan Richard Chadwell; father, Dale Chadwell; brother, William "Buzz" Chadwell; and brother-in-law, Jack Rathbun.
