Jean M. (Parker) Stuart
Jan. 10, 1925 – Nov. 19, 2016
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Jean was the eldest daughter of Floyd and Edith Parker. She married James M. Stuart, Sr., on October 2, 1950. They had been married for 49 years and 10 months when Jim passed away in 1999. His only regret was not making it to their 50th Anniversary, “married to the most wonderful person”. Jean had two children. James M. Stuart, Jr., “Jimmy”, who passed away in 1998. A daughter in law, Paulette (Tyra) Stuart survives them. A surviving daughter and son in law, Pattie and Dennis Thorpe. Jean had three siblings; younger brother, Calvin, and sister, Joyce Knisley preceded her in death. One surviving very special sister, Janice Lee Parker. Five grandchildren, Craig and Melissa Stuart, Pete and Carrie (Stuart) Molesa, Trevor and Heather Shull, Dennis R. Thorpe and Victoria Allore, and Hans and Tracy Silvennoinen; seven wonderful great grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Jasmine, Skyler, Griffin, Savannah, Ayvah, Natalya, and Nova; many nieces and nephews and cousins. A special thanks to nieces, Janelle Schultz and Charlene Wieland for all they do and the comfort they bring. Jean loved to pamper and spoil her family and friends. She showed this in many ways but one particular one, was baking. Christmas cookie baking was an annual tradition that lasted a month. Animals were another love. Dogs, bird feeding (especially humming birds), and chasing away squirrels. She was a skilled knitter, sewer, gardener, painter, and all around crafts-person. Jean was active in all her children’s activities, PTA, a troop leader in Boy and Girl Scouts. Her and Jim (a Pearl Harbor survivor) were very active in both state and national Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, traveling to all conventions. They also served on Frost Township Board with Jean working the elections. Jean was active as a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Stars in Harrison, Michigan. She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Saginaw, Michigan. A special thanks to all her caregivers at New Hope, McLaren Central Michigan, Isabella County Medical Care Facility, and Woodland Hospice, “Angels on Earth”. Memorial services for Jean will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 (Pearl Harbor Day) at 1 pm from the Rowley Funeral Home, 330 South University Avenue, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. A visitation will be held from 11 am until 1:00 pm A luncheon will follow at the Comfort Inn and Conference Center, 2424 South Mission, Mt. Pleasant. The family suggests donations be made to H.A.T.S., Humane Animal Treatment Society, P. O. Box 732, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48804-0732.
