ROGERS, Larry L. – of Clio, age 75, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Fr. Dan Scheib officiating. Inurnment will be in Flushing Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10AM until time of services at 11AM. Contributions may be made to one’s choice of State or National Park.
Larry was born June 1, 1940 in Flint to the late Howard and Zella (Rogo) Rogers and was a Flint area resident his entire life. Mr. Rogers retired in 1994 with 30 years seniority. He worked 20 years at Fisher 1 the 10 years at Buick City and was a member of the UAW Local #599. He enjoyed listening to music, watching sports and racing, reading and traveling to national parks. Larry worked many years at Auto City Speedway in the late 60’s and 70’s as a timer and scorekeeper.
Surviving are: companion, Genevieve “Gennie” Mitchell; Children: Brian (Dee) Rogers of CA, Bradley (Mary Jane) Rogers of Sterling Heights, Blake Rogers of CA, Brenda (Paul) Check of Clio, David (Melanie) Mitchell of AZ, Paul (Gabrielle) Mitchell of AZ, Richard (Rebecca) Mitchell of Clio, Joe (Heather) Mitchell of Clio; Grandchildren: Jacob Rogers, Madison Rogers and 9 more; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Yvonne (Dick) Dorland of AZ; brother, Gene (Mary) Rogers of AZ; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: grandson, Benjamin Rogers; sisters: Leslie Wilson and Jackie Blue; and brother, Donald Rogers.
