ABBOTT, Harry “Jerry” – Of Grand Blanc, age 81, died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Courtyard Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Gary Koenigsknecht Officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 and 9 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Harry was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 25, 1934, the son of Harry and Laurence Abbott, and was a resident of the Flint area since 1963.
On October 12, 1972 he married Shirley Wise in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Grand Blanc Moose Lodge 2344, Burton Eagles Aerie 3814, Antique Automobile Club of America and The Buick Club.
Mr. Abbott was employed by Genesee County as a Sheriff's Deputy for 27 years, retiring in 1991.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley;
five children, Patrick (Diane) Abbott of Gladwin,
Gerald Abbott of New Jersey,
Yvonne (Lloyd) Wade of Arkansas,
Julie (Kevin) DeJonge of Nunica, Michigan and
Mary Lynn (Gary) Price of Wilmington, North Carolina;
10 grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard and daughter-in-law, Alice Abbott.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Tonia, Amy, Nicole and the rest of the care staff at Courtyard Manor of Fenton, you all went above and beyond.
