McCANN, Lyle Jay – of Davison, MI, age 91, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 East Third Street, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Debbie Line Yencer officiating. Interment in Van Gilder Cemetery, Big Rapids, MI. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Davison United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davison Area Library, in Lyle’s memory.
Lyle was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 6, 1927, son of the late Lyle McCann and Mary Eva Bouwman. He married Dorothy Lutz in 1946 and she preceded him in death in 1972. He later married Martha “Sue” Bade on August 3, 1992 and she preceded him in death on June 9, 2015. Lyle proudly served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was a member of Davison United Methodist Church. Lyle enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, traveling, bicycling, Walleye fishing on Saginaw Bay, farming and racquetball. He was a 30 year member of the Davison Racquet Club, he held multiple civic memberships in Big Rapids and was a past President of the Big Rapids Chamber of Commerce.
Lyle is survived by 3 daughters, Sandy (Brian) Redmond, Julie (John) Pamer and Jennifer Ryan; 2 sons, Jay (Debbie) McCann and Lyle (Donna) McCann; brother, John “Dutch” (Rita) Bouwman; 14 grandchildren, Stephanie (Toby) Erickson, Chris (Emily) McCann, Casey Lowery, Corey McCann, Brandon (Angela) Barber, Derrick (Heather) Barber, Jessica (Jake) Kapeller, Ted (Rebecca) McCann, Ashlee Kowalkowski, Kara (Scott) Schultz, Jamie (Kurt) Zekman, Bryce Pamer, Allison Pamer and Benjamin Ryan; 16 great-grandchildren, Sam Erickson, Max Erickson, Avery McCann, Christopher Lowery, Addisyn Lowery, Owen McCann, Payton McCann, Madellyn Johnson, Ava Teddy, Maryn Teddy, Deagan Kapeller, Jayden McCann, Izabel Torres, Evie McCann, Victor Barber and Melissa Barber; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Madeline Vredevelt.
